Weeds are important constraints for rice production. Effective weed management can increase yields by more than 50%, but usually takes a lot of time. One labour-saving method of controlling weeds is the use of herbicides, but if these herbicides are not applied in the right way, they may harm the crop, human health, and the environment.
This farmer to farmer interview produced by the Africa Rice Center shows how to control weeds in lowland rice by using herbicides in a safe and efficient way.
It is part of a set of four videos on weed management for lowland rice produced by the Center as part of the early-win projects of the Africa RISING project.
