The 2017 gender action plan for the two International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)-led Africa RISING projects in West Africa and East/Southern Africa is now available.
The action plan summarizes the outcomes, outputs, activities, responsibilities and means of verification through which progress on implementation of gender sensitive research-in-development can be tracked.  The document was generated through a consultative process with scientists implementing different activities within the two project regions. An annual gender report outlining the achievements and progress of this gender action plan will be published as a follow-up in mid-2018. Annual reports shall inform subsequent research planning.
Gender cuts across all the research outputs for the second phase of the Africa RISING and is considered an imperative element for ensuring the usability of sustainable intensification technologies developed and validated by the three regional projects.
