Africa RISING Ethiopia 2014 review and planning meeting focuses on scaling up
The Africa RISING project in Ethiopia organized its annual review and planning meeting in early December 2014. The meeting reviewed project progress, results and plans and identified opportunities to scale Africa RISING’s research findings at both local and higher levels.
In her welcoming remark Siboniso Mayo, ILRI director general’s representative in Ethiopia appreciated the immense work that has been done under the project. She recognized the project’s contributions in the different regions to influence and change the lives of the people. The diverse participants in the meeting, she said, reflects the great partnerships emerging through the project.
Project coordinator Peter Thorne explained the wider context of this USAID-funded Feed the Future initiative and how it aims to increase agricultural productivity, generate opportunities for economic growth and trade, and boost the harvests and incomes of rural smallholder farmers.
During the two-day meeting, participants reviewed progress since 2012, discussed results from the research themes, and considered strengths and weaknesses of the project.
